POSTING DETAIL – SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER, TELECOM

- Henkels & McCoy, Inc., one of the largest privately held international utility contracting firms, with offices in 80 cities and celebrating 90 years of operating with a reputation as one of the most reliable and innovative firms in engineering and construction, is currently seeking a Senior Project Manager for our Telecom program operating out of Detroit Michigan metro area.
- The position will manage the coordination of resources (multiple locations possible) to meet overall project requirements. The project manager is responsible for the overall direction, completion, and financial reporting regarding the outcome of a construction project(s). This includes the responsibility of contract compliance, financial success, and customer satisfaction.
- The position will report to the Project Director.

Major Job Elements:

- Direct oversight of the project management team to include project controls, estimating, schedule, quality control/quality assurance, field engineering, project coordinators, and community interface personnel.
- Project management responsibility for coordination of schedule, cost, estimating, and interface with engineering and business functions with the construction group.
- Cost Management: budget updates, early identification of cost issues and identification of appropriate remedial actions, ensure timely and accurate updates, review budget changes, and report to management.
- Schedule Management: schedule detail input with project controls team. Coordination and implementation of schedule with construction team. Responsible for meeting schedule commitments.
- Coordinate and maintain project documentation and distribution.
- Reviews sub-supplier documents to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Oversees design changes and works with Contract Management (summarizing delays, claims, back-charges, and contract requirements).
- Has a clear understanding of the sold product (reviews, understands, and insures compliance with required contract documents, including commercial and technical specifications, scope, schedule, and performance requirements).
- Prepares contract correspondences and provides guidance and assistance to any required Field Installation and start-up effort.
- Provides support to the Procurement Group for project related purchases (specifications, budgets, deliveries, performance)
- Prepares reports as required by customers and/or management.
- Assist in the development, optimization, implementation, and updating of project schedules using Primavera, P6, and Microsoft Project.
- Understand and assist in the development of project scope and estimates.
- Understanding of construction cost and tracking systems that incorporate earned value management principles associated with cost, labor, equipment, material, subcontractors, and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of QA/QC and Safety programs including implementation, auditing, site evaluation, and coaching.
- Knowledge of contract administration, construction, and change management principles.
- Ability to communicate well, including sound written and oral communication skills.

Qualifications

- Five (+) years of experience in a lead role. May include project management, construction management, project controls, or project (field) engineering.
- BS degree in engineering, engineering technologies, or construction management program. Education requirement may be offset against relevant hands-on project experience.
- Ability to travel as necessary and on extended assignments to facilitate the implementation of the project management program. Travel expectation is 100%.
- Understanding of construction cost and tracking systems that incorporate earned value management principles associated with cost, labor, equipment, material, subcontractors, and financial reporting.
- Ability to communicate well, including sound written and oral communication skills.
- Very detail oriented and skilled at multi-tasking to complete several deadlines accurately and on time.
- Excellent computer skills required
- Ability to travel as necessary and on extended assignments to facilitate the implementation of the project management program.
