NODES SPLITS ARE ONGOING/IN PROGRESS AND WILL LAST THROUGHOUT 2017 AND BEYOND. TX UPGRADES ARE MULTIPLE NIGHTS FOR TWO PROJECTS LASTING 2-3 WEEKS. TIMETABLE FOR FIRST IS LATE MAY 2017, TIMETABLE FOR SECOND IS AUGUST 2017.
Qualifications
CONTRACTOR MUST BE A SEASONED EXPERIENCE COAXIAL SPLICER, HAVE THE ABILITY TO RELIABLY TRANSFER NODE PIGTAIL TO NEW NODE, AND BE FAMILIAR WITH ALL ASPECTS OF NODE OPTIMIZATION AND SET UP. IN ADDITION MUST WORK WITH HUB TECH AND REPORT ALL DATA IN ELECTRONIC FORMAT (EXCEL).
Other Requirements
DSAM OR EQUIVALENT USED IN COMBINATION WITH SDA 5000 OR NEWER, ALL CORING TOOLS FOR EVERY CABLE KNOWN TO THE INDUSTRY INCLUDING VINTAGE 412 CABLE. RELIABLE BUCKET TRUCK IS A MUST.
Job Description
This is a long term node split project in all of CT and the extreme eastern portion of NY adjacent to CT. Nodes are either re spliced in same location as existing node(s) and fiber pigtail is transferred to new node. Node is optimized DS and US. Splicer pre-builds node prior to cut using construction notes and prints. All additional splicing is completed with all first actives also balanced. All work is done in the maintenance window of 01:00 to 05:00. All measurements are recorded on an Excel production form. Or, a new node is placed in a new location, can be optimized prior to night of cut (pre-optimizations can take place during the day), with all other splicing/balancing then taking place night of cut.
The two hub TX upgrade projects are of short duration, again taking place in the maintenance window, and basically require forward and return node optimizations with usually no splicing required. Some re balancing might be required from time to time. Both projects involve working with legacy nodes, some of which are decades old.
For node splits we are using Arris 3100 and 4100 nodes, Cisco GS7000 nodes, and Aurora NC4000 nodes. All are single fiber solution which requires installation of multiple muxes.
