Qualifications

Known ability to work at heights. Outdoor construction experience. Climbing school or training a plus.

Other Requirements

Learn from more experienced linemen and use that learning to increase job knowledge and performance (similar to an apprentice). Ability to work in all weather conditions. Safely & efficiently work at heights, ladders, bucket trucks, communication poles. Work out of town routinely Monday-Friday and occasionally on weekends. Work combination of day time hours and night hours when needed. Have, or have the ability to easily obtain a Michigan Chauffeurs and DOT Med Card.

Job Description

Job Purpose:
Serves customers by establishing communications by installing aerial cables, poles and pedestals.

Primary Duties:
Prepares installations by analyzing staking sheets and job sites; gathering required materials and supplies; locating existing cables and other utilities.

Have the skills to safely and efficiently operate multiple machines, i.e. bucket truck, lasher, core machines, powered hand tools, etc.

Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing operator preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.

Maintain quality and a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.

Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities such as trade print articles, learning from more experienced technicians, learning other relevant areas of the business, maintaining personal networks, etc.

Keep equipment in good operating condition by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; informing management of needed repairs. This includes safety personal protective equipment, vehicles, trailers, booms, powered equipment, and hand tools.

Maintain customer confidence by keeping installation information confidential and maintaining a professional jobsite demeanor and correspondence.

Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
