Job Description:
The position of Fiber Splicing Technician is responsible for the installation and maintenance of fiber cables including needed repairs. Position requires ability to be individually responsible, work aloft, maintain a driver's license, computer literate and perform detailed functions in the splicing and testing of fiber cables. This position requires a great deal of accuracy and perfection.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prep splice/test aerial/buried fiber cables in enclosures and terminals.
Splice fiber per specifications and OTDR test to minimum light loss and reflectance.
Complete Extensive Documentation as required for job and submit daily.
Qualifications:
Ability to identify colors
Be in good physical condition
Good corrected vision
Ability to adapt to changes in technology.
Ability to lift materials weighing 50 lbs. and carry them 100 feet.
Ability to work aloft
Ability to use hand tools while working aloft.
Ability to communicate in non-face-to-face situation.
Ability to read and understand job prints
Ability to understand how to use highly technical test equipment.
Other Requirements:
Obtain and load on truck all materials necessary to complete work orders.
Observe all required safety procedures and adhere to underground safety regulations established by the company and OSHA.
Conduct visual inspection of vehicles daily and perform preventive maintenance as required.
Must have the ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Must exhibit honesty, integrity and courtesy in all interactions.
Must possess strong work ethic in supporting customer needs, responding promptly and consistently.
