We have immediate need of a Horizontal Directional Bore Machine Operator
Position Overview: Operator is responsible for operating a bore machine in a safe and efficient manner while installing underground pipes along a prescribed bore path with minimal impact on the surrounding area. An Operator is responsible for extensive safety practices while taking attention to detail while properly installing underground pipe; assisting with construction clean-up as necessary and any other duties and responsibilities as assigned; willing to work outside in varying weather conditions. The position is for our San Antonio Corporate Headquarters.
Wages based on experience. You will earn top industry pay, while operating new equipment.
Job Duties:
• Select and deploy appropriate tooling specific to each project as requirements change.
• Having knowledge and experience to lead a crew in successful completion of various sizes and types of bores.
• Perform routine maintenance and upgrade work on machines and equipment, such as replacing parts, building up drill bits, and lubricating machinery.
• Operate controls to stabilize machines and to position and align drills.
• Regulate air pressure, rotary speed, and downward pressure, according to the type of soil being drilled.
• Strict adherence to company safety policy.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
Skills / Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years experience as the primary operator
High school diploma or GED preferred
Possess a valid driver’s license - Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A preferred.
Prior experience in CATV / Utilities underground fiber and coax construction a plus
Previous experience in standard and high-risk areas a preferred
Previous rock boring experience a plus
Knowledge of utility depths and placements
Possess general knowledge of construction practices
Knowledge of reading and understanding blueprints is required
Ability to work in various environments/settings with moderate to loud noise levels
Equipped to work in trenches, manholes and tunnels
Prepared to sit, stand, stop, crouch, reach and lift for long periods of time
Able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
Capable to use full-range of motion in fingers, hand and wrists to operate necessary tools/equipment
