TECHNICAL OPERATIONS TRAINER

Coudersport, PA based position with 50% travel to cable systems.

$50-70K, negotiable based on experience and skills

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of training and/or work experience. Four years of training delivery work experience as well as at least 4 years of experience as a technician with progressive levels of responsibility. Two years of supervisory or management experience.

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Trains, mentors and occasionally assists technicians on the proper process and procedures for installs, service and maintenance calls within Zito Media systems. Delivers learning curriculums and programs that include new hire and skill enhancement training.

This training includes, but is not limited to, technical and safety training, EEO and safe workplace standards, systems/dispatch training, new product or service launch information, soft skills and functional training.

Consults with tech ops organization on needs and assumes a leadership role when those in authority are unavailable. Uses technical expertise and advance training skills to deliver more complex subject matter across all product lines as opportunities are available. Providing follow up training in the field and assisting with the QC of work. On occasional will be called on to assist with persistent system impacting issues, educating the technical staff on the appropriate troubleshooting steps to resolve it.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience

•Supervises and develops technicians, both in the classroom and the field. This includes role modeling the core competences, skills and behaviors of a company leader, communicating company EEO and safety standards, handling training department logistics, observing performance, providing feedback on work performance, addressing inappropriate behavior and documenting performance, both strengths and development needs.

•Collaborates with technical operations staff to development needs, gather feedback and review training metrics, and adjust curriculum as needs dictate

•Facilitates learning through a variety of delivery methods to develop participants’ skill sets. This includes Classroom/Field Instruction, Conference Calls/Net Meeting Trainings, Follow up/QC.

•Supervises employees during training. This includes role modeling the core competences, skills and behaviors of a company leader, tracking attendance, addressing inappropriate behavior and documenting performance, both strengths and development needs.

•Assists with essential administrative duties and functions. This includes conducting all pre-training prep work, administering learning schedules and calendars, maintaining participant records (e.g., test scores, evaluations and attendance), performing all required Sum Total prerequisite requirements and post-training duties and ensuring learning is evaluated with post-training surveys.

•Exhibits a commitment to Continuous Learning. This includes pursuing development activities and opportunities to obtain additional expertise and strengthen core skills, building and improving job-related knowledge and leadership skills; seeking feedback from others and maintaining focus to continue the learning cycle.

•Evaluates learning effectiveness, including behavior change/performance improvement on the job; provides feedback to learners and their managers; follows up with leadership team to ensure the learning translates to performance.

•Acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to develop course content and testing. This will ensure that market business strategies, desired competencies, changes in job realities and professional development needs of assigned technicians are reflected in the training content.

•Participates in task forces, committees and/or team meetings.

•Schedules follow up time to ride with previous trainees to evaluate performance as well as ensure that safe workplace standards are being followed in practice. Also assist with QC of recently completed work.

•On occasion, assist the technicians in an area onsite with a persistent issue and train them on the proper approach to troubleshoot the issue going forward.

•Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of training and/or work experience

Related Work Experience
Four years of training delivery work experience as well as at least 4 years of experience as a technician with progressive levels of responsibility

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Related Work Experience
Two years of supervisory or management experience

WORKING CONDITIONS
Lifting and transporting training equipment and setting up classrooms
On feet up to eight (8) hours/day in training/in field
Meets same physical requirements as target audience
Exposure to moderate noise levels
Must be able to travel out of town up to 50% of the time
