Qualifications

High school diploma or GED. Valid state driver's license with clean driving record. Able to communicate effectively with the customer concerning reception problems, instructions & services. Must be friendly & patient, basic courtesy, diplomatic abilities & a pleasant demeanor. Must be able to apply technical expertise to a variety of situations, evaluating problems & implementing the best solutions. Basic computer troubleshooting to include email and MS Office.

Other Requirements

Maximum body weight cannot exceed 280 pounds in order to comply with safety limitations of equipment. Climb poles & ladders daily. Carry, set-up and extend ladders weighing up to 100 lbs. daily. Must be able to work with confidence on ladders & utility poles at heights of up to 35 feet. Lift up to 100 lbs. Work indoors & outdoors in all types of weather. Standard tools: (screwdrivers, wrenches, drills, strippers, crimpers, hammers) to route cable, connect cable & install electronic equipment.

Job Description

Perform routine installations; disconnects; and troubleshooting of RCN services and end user equipment. Maintain performance standards in all duties of a service technician. Complete work assignments generated through subscriber service requests, as well as assigned work from the supervisor including: installations; disconnects; troubleshooting. Instruct subscribers in general use of company equipment and services as needed.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
Follow established procedures to install cable television, internet and phone services.
Follow established procedures for completion and submission of all assigned work orders.
Follow established troubleshooting procedures to identify faults within the subscriber drop, up to the subscriber equipment to ensure proper signal level, picture quality and compliance with all local, state, federal and RCN requirements and standards.
Correct faults found in the above by adjusting, repairing or replacing components as required maintaining standards established by the company.
Demonstrate support for excellent customer service.
Inform supervisor as necessary.
Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned or as become evident.
