NX Utilities LLC is a Telecom and Utility Construction company with over 13 years of experience in the industry, with a large and diverse customer base reaching from coast to coast. Our 6 divisional offices support operations in most major markets in our North American Foot-print.


NX Utilities LLC is seeking a full time Underground Construction Technician.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


• The Underground Construction Technician will demonstrate the ability to use hand and portable power tools safely and efficiently in both indoor and outdoor environments.
• Must have thorough knowledge of the industry procedures governing excavation.
• Working knowledge of foreign utility locates and mandatory emergency response guidelines prior to excavation.
• Ability to operate a backhoe, trencher and digger.
• Perform general maintenance on equipment.
• Knowledge of utility markings.
• Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations concerning excavations; specifically electrical hazards and safety procedures.
• Knowledge of procedures for locates prior to excavations.
• Drive utility vehicles (CDL drivers only) while following all operating instructions, safety standards and guidelines, and DOT responsibilities.
• Maintain safe working environment by keeping work areas clean and free of trash, scrap material and equipment not in use.


Supervisory Responsibilities


This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

• 2- 3 years’ experience as an underground construction technician
• Demonstrate the ability to instruct others on the proper use of tools and equipment
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds
• May work long and irregular hours to restore service
• Frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock, moving mechanical parts, and exposed to outside weather
• Valid Driver License
• Must be able to pass background and drug screen
• CDL preferred, but not required


Education and/or Experience:


High school diploma; 3 years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
