Job Description
OSP ENGINEER
GENERAL OVERVIEW
The OSP Engineer is involved in all aspects of Outside Plant aerial cable plant design. Taking pole measurements will be the primary focus of this project
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for the advanced knowledge of outside plant design and the designing of outside plant work orders.
Provides field support to the outside plant provisioning process.
Responsible for the various communications outside plant engineering concepts, such as copper cable, fiber optic cable, and coax cable
Coordinate field work, preparation of work order drawings
KEY COMPETENCIES
Knowledge of telephone industry standards, accessing, reading and interpreting mechanized assignment records, PC applications, OSP record and/or computer aided drafting systems, and able to interact with all on-line computer systems company requires.
Knowledge in understanding infrastructure plans (highway, sewer, bridge, etc) and survey information for the elimination and prevention of conflicts with existing or proposed underground and site obstacles, and for proper installation location within easements and public right of way.
Knowledgeable of all municipal and governmental requirements for outside plant work.
Uses mature judgment in all aspects of the job
Skilled in multi tasking with strong attention to detail
Excellent analytical skills and ability to problem solve
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal team
