Pay

Hourly rates are in the range of $27 to $20, depending on experience. Fiber and RF technician positions are eligible for production incentives and profit sharing. Full benefits, including 401K match.

Qualifications

A minimum of 5 years of senior technical experience with hybrid fiber-coax network maintenance and/or construction. A high school diploma or GED. Unblemished driving record and current license. TDR, OTDR, fusion splicing and fiber blower familiarity. Thorough knowledge of coax and fiber networks and designs. Good communicators. High integrity. Self-starters.

Other Requirements

Required vehicles (F350 Mobile Factory and Splicing Van), tools, materials will be provided by Deep Fiber Solutions.

Job Description

TECHNICIAN III POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position has primarily responsible for assuring continuity of service during Deep Fiber Solutions’ (DFS) fiber construction in core extracted coax technology in cable operator hybrid fiber-coax (HFC) networks. Provides jobsite leadership in the planning for the provision of temporary service and then converts service to fiber-optic infrastructure by splicing fibers and electronics after fiber installation is completed. After splicing, reactivates service to customers on the new fiber-optic network, coordinating with the cable operator to transition customers to new nodes when appropriate.


Responsibilities:

1. As a senior DFS representative at the jobsite, maintains a high level of customer relations to enhance the DFS and cable operator brands.
2. May be required to assume the duties of the Crew Manager in her/his absence.
3. Manages work to prevent service outages.
4. Ensures efficient splicing project scheduling to achieve maximum converted network productivity.
5. Provides fiber splicing production reporting for accurate billing, inventory management and productivity measures.
6. Has primary responsibility for converted network performance.
7. Troubleshoots network issues and proposes solutions.
8. Reads, interprets and executes network designs consistent with the DFS playbook.
9. Recommends improvements to DFS methods and procedures, standards and documentation, tools and operational support systems to produce maximum effectiveness/efficiency and a quality customer experience.
10. Promotes safety awareness, and adherence to the DFS Safety and Loss Control Program in order to provide a work environment free from injury.
11. Consults with the Crew Manager to define key performance indicators and service levels, create a process framework and initiate improvement activities to achieve optimum production.
12. Maintains and safeguards DFS vehicles, equipment and tools.
13. Other duties as assigned.

TECHNICIAN II POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for upgrading a coaxial cable network to fiber-optic by extracting the core of coaxial cables, preparing the cables for fiber-optic cable installation and then installing the fiber. The incumbent carefully coordinates with the Technician III to optimize network upgrade production.

Responsibilities:

1. Executes network upgrades consistent with the DFS playbook and at the direction of the Crew Manager.
2. Manages work to prevent service outages.
3. Ensures effective coordination of span qualification, pot holing, coax core extraction and fiber installation with splicing activities to achieve maximum crew production of upgraded network.
4. Provides span qualification, coax extraction and fiber installation production reporting for accurate billing, inventory management and productivity measures.
5. Assures extracted polyethylene is recycled.
6. Assures sufficient fiber-optic cable is available for assigned projects.
7. Maintains a high level of customer relations to enhance the DFS and cable operator brands.
8. Recommends improvements to DFS methods and procedures, standards and documentation, tools and operational support systems to produce maximum effectiveness/efficiency and a quality customer experience.
