Qualifications

The System Tech is responsible for preventive maintenance and repair of the plant including the trunk and distribution system. Perform routine maintenance and repairs while providing technical support for the resolution of service related problems. Requires: 3 years cable experience. Must have and maintain valid drivers license. NCTI or SCTE Certifications desired, not required.

Job Description

Troubleshoot & repair problems associated with RF, AC, DC portions of the forward & reverse plant transmission levels, signal losses, off-air interface and troubleshooting of optical power.
Perform routine balancing, aligning, and adjustment of components and equipment used to amplify and process signals.
Test main trunk lines using signal level meters, volt-OHM meters, spectrum analyzers and other related test equipment on a regular basis, compare findings in the field with documentation. Test power supplies on a regular basis and perform field engineering walkout as required.
Monitor and record system leakage and repair drop leakage; comply with requirements outlined in applicable regulations (such as OSHA/FCC/NEC).
Complete and maintain accurate records including work orders, daily logs and other necessary paperwork. Collect, analyze and present information on an accurate and timely basis; compile data for inclusion in FCC reports; maintain records, conduct tests, and prepare reports as required in a timely and accurate manner.
Clean and maintain assigned equipment and stock assigned vehicle.
Assure system security by termination of unused ports, lock and tag peds/lockboxes.
Coordinate, perform and /or provide direction to repairs upgrades or rebuilds as needed; activate plant extensions and rebuild projects; perform regular power supply maintenance and upgrades/change outs.
Sweep signal, repair and replace RF and power components of fiber nodes, take voltage measurements, splice fiber optic cable.
