Re: SDA 5000 tilt feature

Hello,

Unfortunately when you make a channel plan on the SDA-5000 in the DIGI or QAM option for a specified channel format, the TILT function is not available as it is disabled when attempting to access that function.

My suggestion (as an EXPERIMENT) would be to manually ADD A CHANNEL(S) that you would need to see a TILT from and format it as a SINGLE CARRIER (SINGLE CHANNEL) option and not a QAM or AUDIO & VIDEO CHANNEL.

The frequecny of the SINGLE CARRIER would be the center frequency of the QAM frequency you wish to read. Depending on the used QAM format (6:1,  8:1 or whatever) CONFIRM with the headend technician what the actual MEASUREABLE carrier frequency is. The CENTER FREQUENCY for example, shows  57.0 MHz (CH. 2) and 699.0 MHz (CH 103), but the readable frequency at peak may be 57.3 MHz and 699.2 MHz. In this example, your SINGLE CARRIER(s) in your CHANNEL PLAN would be set a 57.3/699.2 respectively and this will allow your TILT function to again be active for these frequencies.

There is NO GUARANTEE of the accuracy of this measurement but at least it will show a TILT level on your meter. I would attempt to try this and compare the readings to a newer QAM meter and see how similar it would be. Normally there would be 2 analog CW carriers to measure but with pure digital, you need to measure the peak power of each carrier.

Good luck!
