Lets get this straight..your now working for a guy on hourly wages doing great for footage, so he wants you to become a sub contractor to him.  Why don't he just put you on units, it's basically the same as a sub, only a little pay per unit.  I think he just wants you off the hourly thing, being a sub makes his life and his company taxes look better.  If you happy now and satisfied with the pay...then don't jump ship, sometimes the jump is not worth the sharks your encounter.  In other words: stay as you are.  Good luck with it ..Keep Safe, you may have worked all those years with just a driver and you...but sometimes, luck runs out...and that is how you've been doing...Lucky !!
