I know where you're coming from, brother. However, you have neglected one thing...wires means security & stability. Wireless is far, far away from anything remotely close to being as secure/stable. And will be for another 30 years.
I remmeber when the dishes came out, wireless was the rage. But then reality hit and fiber began being placed. And it was good. ;)
