I was incorrect on the PR state tax rate, I had it confused with the sales tax which is around 12%. There IS a state income tax and PR is considered like Washington DC so all normal taxes apply, at approx 40% regardless if you are 1099 or not, the rate is the rate. Keep in mind that IF you claim per diem from PR, then the IRS will know you were there.....just throwing this out there from past experience to help.....
