Re: Starting a new contractor business in Florida.

What type of contracting do you plan on doing? In house installs? Fiber Splicing? Construction? Coax splicing?

The bigger companies will typically only hire Primes who can do multiple items, usually from cosntruction to splice. This way they only have to deal with one company from start to finish.

Also the pay is usually 45-60 days out from END of project (not just section at a time but the entire project you are doing)

You are much better off to start as a sub for an established prime to at least learn this side of the business first before you jump in head first. This way you get a good idea how things work before you make that risk. And if its just yourself anyway you might even make more money being a sub anyway.
