Well actually, in the world of outside plant construction, "make ready" is the physical relocation of existing strand and or cables (power, telephone, CATV) on an existing pole lead to "make ready" the pole attachment position for a soon to be placed new cable and is done by a line crew. I believe "strand mapping" is a more accurate term for what you describe.
