Re: S & N

The same thing is true for OTDR and power meters. They all work the same way to the same specifications as long as they are calibrated to spec. There are differences in their internal software that affects how the test results are viewed, uploaded etc. but if you take three different OTDR's from three different manufacturers that are all under current calibration to the same spec's then they will all give you the same measurement on a specific strand of fiber, it's called physics. You can then take those results from those different machines and put them into any unifying formate you choose. Once again, I can't figure out if these people just don't have any technical knowledge or if something else is at play. It would be great for them and a majority of the best individual contractors if they could figure this out because I don't know too many that are ready, willing and able to go out and re-tool with new different equipment to qualify to work on these projects with their not so great prices that come with a truckload of micro management. On the bright side, Google has lit a fuse all around the country to supply 1G so there are more and more work options every day and most of these other players are far more reasonable.
