Status Monitoring Platforms

Just wondering what status monitoring systems are out there. Right now I am working on a system that uses OmniVU. It's almost worthless.
I've read about Cheetah but have never sued it. Can anyone let me know how well it works? Is it difficult to deploy and set up?
Are there any other status monitoring systems I might consider looking into?
