Piece rate is per piece installed. Example. per reciever installed.  Someone may pay you 20 dollars per reciever.  If it is for 3 recievers the job would pay 60.  This is an example.  I don't know how cable works as far if you get more for the first box like satellite. 

With satellite you will see a reat like 50/15.  Means first box and dish pays 50.  Each box after pays 15.

If your quick and good at what you do piece rate can be good.

Just look around at ads and you can get a feel for the rates.  Rates are always changing not always for the better.
