Hi it really all depends on what you need the locator to do,locate cable,phone electrical?And how much you willing to spend,I have rycom,fisher,dyntal,heathtech and progressive locators.You would not beleive I use the cheapest one of the all progressive,because its simple to use,just listen to the tone,will locator 3 feet deep and thousand feet long ,but its direct connect.There are alot of good locators out there ,just get the one that fits your needs and price range
