Now it is time for the cable side.

Cable you do not have to pay for any supplies, the MSO provides them at no cost to the contractors; that will be a couple hundred savings per month.

Most contract companies pay piece rate; the amount depends on what you are installing and what the customer wants.  Generally your biggest payouts are the whole home DVR's, or Tivo's and your telephony.  Some contractors also know how to upsale and replace items to increase their $$, i.e. replace drop - some of my markets give an extra $20.00 just to replace aerial drop.  A good contractor can make $300.00 per day and not have to drive 150 miles per day putting ware and tear on their vehicle.

Both Satellite and Cable can be good and both can be bad.  It depends on the MSO, contractor you work for and the area you work.
