Re: Boom working slow

How cold is the outside temp when you compared its operation? If you are using a Versalift it is normal for it to be much slower in operation compared to a hot day until the hydrodlic fluid gets warmer...at least in my experiences. And it has been VERY COLD recently. I would check to see if you have a full hydrolic fluid tank also...there should be a window to look at on most models.

I have known many people to use automobile (Dextron III) transmission fluid instead of actual hydrolic fluid due to the extreem cold in the north to help it go faster, but have heard both pros and cons on doing such. I was told by a hydrolic repair facility NOT to mix the two fluids, but to use ether 100% of one or the other.

I am not a boom expert but there are enough folks here that are better qualified for advise than me.

Good luck!

Greg
