1st system I worked in ,Armstrong Utilities in the mid 70s had amplifiers called Amecos, they where mounted on gaurd arms on the pole and had little fans in them to keep the tubes cool, if it went bad you'd take a tube out go down to the local drug store and use their tube tester to replace the tube ha ha. Amecos in a can. 12 channel system with 3 db tilt, Life was so much simplier then.
