This is what we've found. When the modem starts ranging, it locks onto the first carrier it finds. We had to manually move the modems in groups to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th channel. The way around that is to turn on the Dynamic Load Balancing, but if you have open ports that are authorized it will move modems to the open ports causing a short outage until it moves them again, creating a rolling outage that the techs will never be able to catch up with. That was a fun day. You might be able to preprovision modems to the freq you want them to operate at, but that is time consuming. DOCSIS 3 and channel bonding cures all of it.
