A lot of times these flaggers will multitask while flagging i.e. Communicating with the Lineman and doing other things while they flag traffic which is a deadly mixture and may have been the cause of several accidents and deaths. The flagger just needs to focus on flagging and not other tasks. If you need your flagman to multitaks then you shouldnt be out there doing the work and you need to adjust your working practices.
A flagger is a flagger and leave it at that, you may save his or her life by doing so
