In S.C. changes in pay must through written notice.  We usually get a month notice.  Prices are as agreed in your contract or agreement until then.  Most states are similiar and Sure your state is the same .  But everyone will try if they can get away with it, and you let them. And if no one stands up to them why wouldn't they?!  Heck they probably thought you made too much money and probably figured since they were issued the work,  made copies, have to write the check, and did all that supervision they needed more money. American greed  But look at the brightside of it.  They reduced your tax burden
