Re: Cheap way to fix leaks...NOT


I may have found one of them in 2009. Was in Tucson doing sweep. We were assigned nodes another contractor had "swept" and Cox refused or sent back the sweep books. We couldn't get a good reference at the node. Checked everthing out and finally determined it was worse on one leg. At that point I noticed some electric tape wrapped around the coax at the pole, two feet from the node. I reached over to check it out and discovered the tape was holding aluminum foil onto the coax shielding. I went out about six feet past the pole and spliced in a new piece of coax. Eliminated the problem. Took that piece of coax in to show the project manager. He just shook his head, knowing his company had paid the previous contractor for sweeping the node. Everything was working, but we had a bad response. Sure screwed up the 1 ghz sweep picture.
