I have found many "shield repairs" where somebody used a preforated copper grounding strap wrapped around a crack in .500 feeder cable. Guess they thought that this would help fix the grounding! This must be a common "hack" repair because I have seen it across the country, mainly in easements. Have also seen the old "tie wraps around aluminum foil" trick for ingress repair. Gotta give 'em a "C" for creativity on that one!
