I invented cable,whittled the first pole ever made out of a spruce tree. Thats back when the men were steel and the poles were wood. LOL. Nope I'm a lyin, hooked my first pole in Mannasses Ga in 86,its still there as are my gaff marks. I stop by occasionally just to look at it,and some interstate crossings I done as I got older across 75 in Nashville,Atlanta,Cincinatti and so forth,then theres that five way in Fayette county,look at it every now and then,yep those were the days. Our work will outlive us in places. I have good poles in my current system set in '29 with the gaff marks still in them,sadly only us older linemen know what it took to place them. Think I'll have a drink to those men.
