I consider 5 or 6 cones spaced 10ft apart behind your truck while working aerial is a audio warning device, when you hear thump, thump,thump,thump you better be prepared for a wild ride or a wild fall, the same reason I would never hook my fall restraint to the boom, if I did hook it to anything it would be the strand.

whenever possible I always positioned my self to where I can see on coming traffic like drive past the pole, in order to work off the rear of the truck
that way if they hit you, they aren't driving you and your bucket into the pole.

when I hear tires squealing I am bailing
