Read the work order. When the customer signs off it states that the work is completed to satisfaction and that all is working upon the installers departure. Most customers don't read it and neither do most installers. Keep copies of completed work orders for one year so that you assure payment in full.  Essentially document everything you do in writing, and save all correspondence via paper, e-mail, phone messages, etc.
