Is a bridger needed when not in use?

I have many SA 550mhz stunk station that do not have feeders. Is it necessary to have a bridger module in a trunk station when a bridger is not needed? If yes how do I best handle turning it off (essentially making sure there is no feed back within the station)/

If a bridger module is not needed is there signal feedback from the bridger module connection point within the trunk station and if so how is that best handled without using a bridger that is not being used?
