I don't remember making great big dollars but I had a hell of a lot of fun back then. We were paid for wall fish, driveway and sidewalk bores.. If we buried lines after the ground block, we were paid ftg. for that as well.
No digital, no data and of course no Voip and really one of the best things, NO 2 HOUR time frames!! Two time frames, A.M. and P.M. I could breathe easy with 12 to 15 orders a day and not sweat B.S. backcharges.. But remember, I'm talking 1979 here!
Point of entry installs, drill hole, drive rod, go!
Like I say, I didn't get rich but kept a decent income!
