I have a friend that was pulled over in an AT235 f450. He was issued a $1000.00 fine for not having a dot# or a dot Med card. I bypassed a weigh station and was pulled over as well. However I was given 30 days to comply. Go to www.fmcsa.dot.gov this is where you will find out what you need to do. It cost nothing to apply for a dot# and you will have one the same day. The Med card will cost you a Dr.'s visit.
I always pull into the stations but am sent through. I only have been weighed in Maryland.
This is Federal law not state. Some states have laws as well. You will have to check with your state dot office.
