I did the In House thing in Houston as well. Tech, ditch digger, splicer, Office, etc....13 years. If/When you go to contracting, ask yourself: Am I one to do the job right the first time? Do I have the integrity and drive to go the extra mile every time? Only you can answer that.
Find a Prime that works more than one Cable Company. Houston has a few of those.
Don't walk around bitching about every little thing...believe me, you will stand out.
It will all come out in the long run....work hard, work smart, learn from the "Elder Dawgs" and keep learning, keep hangovers mild (and work regardless)......and never, NEVER, Burn a Bridge, after 27 years and traveling the country, its all the same people, we just move a lot.
