Hey can any of you installers out there settle a friendly argument for me.I'm a construction lineman and not a full time installer so I don't have a lot of expertise in that field.Heres the question.I have a supervisor that claims if you leave a piece of the braid sticking out from under an RG connector that it will leak RF signal.Is that true.My experience is that the shielding protects the coax from errant signals and acts as a ground for the cable.Isn't the connector part of the grounding also?If that was the case it would seem that the connector would spew RF into the air.I would also think that the sheath on a hard line acts like the braid on a drop wire,therefore that would also leak RF.I have a hard time believing that the plastic jacket on a drop wire would insulate the signal from the outside environment.I think he's wrong unless someone can enlighten me otherwise.
