You can't strip ribbon fiber without the heat stripper. The fiber chuck is designed to set in the stripper and cleaver and is somewhat a precise measurment. HOWEVER I have placed the fiber too close to a propane heater and removed the coating, but I would not recommend that method. Good luck...
